Creativity is bas on memory When we are fac with a new problem it is like when we have to fix something at home. Imagine that a lamp switch breaks as happen to me recently. I took the lamp the toolbox and from the box I select a few screwdrivers a pair of cutting pliers and a spare switch that we had sav. I put everything on a table along with a lamp to have good light and fix it. It doesn't sound very creative nor very spectacular.
But let us now use a new metaphor. The table becomes a sample working memory to which we bring virtually all the tools we have every time we have to face a problem. We go to the toolbox which is our memory and we recall every Phone Number List thing that may be relat to the problem at hand. and the greater the ability to identify relationships between what concerns us and other problems we solv in the past the more likely we will be to succe.
We've all done the I don't have a hammer but this wrench is heavy I can use it to drive this little nail thing at some point. Don't try it with a big nail of course. The fact that the store is a ten-minute walk away helps many to say I'll go buy a screwdriver when I ne it and not have it.
